Buyer Help
Everything you need to know about buying on LayerMarket — what the listings mean, who ships your order, and how downloads work.
Physical vs digital — what's the difference?
Every listing is one of two types, clearly labelled with a badge:
- Physical — a 3D printed object the seller will make and ship to your address.
- Digital (STL Download) — a file you download and print yourself on your own 3D printer.
How do delivery fees work?
- Physical items always include a delivery fee, set by the seller and shown on the listing before checkout.
- Digital items never have a delivery fee — there's nothing to ship.
- Your cart and checkout pages show the item price, delivery fee, and total separately so there are no surprises.
Who handles postage?
Physical items are made and shipped by the independent seller, not by LayerMarket. The seller is responsible for:
- Packaging your order safely
- Dispatching within the timeframe stated on the listing
- Answering any shipping or delivery questions
If you have a problem with delivery, contact the seller first. If you can't reach them or the issue isn't resolved, email help@layermarket.example and we'll step in.
How do downloads work?
For digital STL files:
- The file becomes available to download immediately after successful payment.
- You'll see a download button on the order confirmation page.
- You can re-download the file from your account at any time.
- Check the listing's licence type to see what you're allowed to do with the file (personal use, commercial use, etc.).
Refunds and disputes
Each seller sets their own returns policy, shown on every physical listing. Digital downloads are generally non-refundable once accessed. If something's gone wrong, email help@layermarket.example.
